Music, mindfulness and museum tours for the Stoneybatter Festival at Collins Barracks

The National Museum of Ireland - Decorative Arts & History, Collins Barracks, Dublin 7, is delighted to present a vibrant programme of special events and activities to celebrate this year's Stoneybatter Festival.

From music trails to nature rambles, yoga sessions and exploring the lives of the soldiers in the past, there is something to keep all ages entertained throughout the festival.

The Stoneybatter Festival is a three-day neighbourhood celebration in the heart of Dublin 7 from 16 to 18 June 2023. 

All museum events are free. 


Music Trail

16 - 18 June, During Opening Hours. All Ages

Take a self-guided trail highlighting the musical instruments on display in the Museum galleries at the National Museum of Ireland - Decorative Arts & History from 16 to 18 June. Admission and trails are free. No booking is required. FIND OUT MORE


Hands-on History: Bloomsday-Making for the Museum

Friday, 16 June from 12pm. All ages

This Bloomsday, Museum Educators will be hosting an interactive hands-on history session with objects from the Museum’s handling collection that trace Leopold Bloom’s journey through Dublin. Admission is free and no booking is required. FIND OUT MORE


See the Animal, Be the Animal

Saturday, 17 June, 11am. Families

Go on a silver safari with our Museum Educators and discover all the different animals hidden in the Museum's silver collections. After you’ve seen the animals, learn how to BE the animals. Join yoga instructor Claire Anne Tobin for a session of Animal Yoga. Booking is essential for this workshop as spaces are limited. Admission is free. BOOKING REQUIRED


Barracks Summer Ramble

Saturday, 17 June, 12pm. Adults

Celebrate summer at Collins Barracks with zoologist Catherine McGuinness, exploring the flora and fauna that can be found around the Barracks. Ramble starts at 12pm. Admission is free and no booking is required. FIND OUT MORE


Tours at the National Museum of Ireland

Join our experienced Museum guides in celebrating our final event honouring the Stoneybatter Festival. Go on a bilingual tour at 1pm on Sunday, 17 June, to explore the lives of soldiers living in the Barracks from the 1700s until the late 1900s, as well as this historic building's transition from Barracks to Museum. The second tour of the day at 2pm explores the history and architecture of Collins Barracks. Learn about the lives of soldiers and the impact this building had on the surrounding community of Stoneybatter. Admission is free and no booking is required. FIND OUT MORE
