Workshops, online talks and tours for the Dublin Festival of History 2023

The National Museum of Ireland is taking part in the Dublin Festival of History this autumn with a variety of workshops, online talks and tours across our Dublin Museum sites. 

Explore the role of Ireland’s first purpose-built scientific vessel; discover life in Ireland during the 1970s oil crisis; find out more about a shared military history project; or learn about Viking Dublin over one thousand years ago.

The Dublin Festival of History is an annual free festival, delivered by Dublin City Council and organised by Dublin City Libraries, in partnership with the Dublin City Council Culture Company.

The Dublin Festival of History runs from 25 September to 15 October 2023.

Dublin Festival of History: Get to the Point Screening

Irish artist Brian Duggan will host a drop-in screening of Get to the Point for Dublin Festival of History from 12noon on Saturday, 30 September, at the National Museum of Ireland - Decorative Arts & History, Collins Barracks, Dublin 7. During the 1970s oil crisis, Ireland planned its first nuclear power station in an attempt to become ‘energy independent’. This project film is an examination of archival material and new footage from this time and area when the social fabric of Irish society evolved and fragmented into new perspectives. FIND OUT MORE
