For Open House Dublin 2023, join the National Museum of Ireland to explore and celebrate great architecture, urban design and the people who contribute to the creation of built Dublin.

Take a trail and explore the origins and design features of the National Museum of Ireland - Archaeology; discover the military history of Collins Barracks; or meet stuffed badgers and learn all about their homes in a special pop-up chat for Open House Junior at the Wonder Cabinet. 

Proudly presented by the Irish Architecture Foundation, Open House Dublin is part of the Open House Worldwide international network of 50 organisations hosting festivals and conversations about architecture, design and cities across the globe from Lagos to Taipei, and New York to Santiago. 

Open House Dublin takes place from 7 to 15 October 2023.


Open House Junior: Pop Up Chats at the Wonder Cabinet

National Museum of Ireland - Natural History, Merrion Street, Dublin 2

10.30am - 11.15am & 11.45am - 12.30pm, 7 October. Families 7+

Drop into the Wonder Cabinet and join a special pop-up chat for Open House Junior. Meet the stuffed badgers and learn about their home, also known as habitat. Don’t forget to ‘badger’ our Educators with all your curious questions! FIND OUT MORE


Open House: Architectural Tour of Collins Barracks

National Museum of Ireland - Decorative Arts & History, Collins Barracks, Benburb Street, Dublin 7

7 - 15 October, Adults & Families

Collins Barracks was an army base for almost 300 years before being renovated for use as a museum. Completed in 1704, it played an important role, suppressing uprisings over the centuries. Take a special guided tour at the Museum to explore the history and architecture of Collins Barracks during Open House Dublin. Tours are for all ages, with younger architecture fans especially welcome to join the tours on 7 and 8 October. FIND OUT MORE


Open House: Architectural History Trail

Friday, Saturday and Sunday, 13, 14 and 15 October. All Ages

Explore the Museum’s architectural history by following a trail looking back at the origins and design features of the building and its first exhibitions. This information trail will meander around the Museum on pop-up displays, and explains the history of the stunning architecture of the building. It includes large photographs of the opening of the Museum in 1890, and the original exhibition layouts of the Museum in the early 1900s. FIND OUT MORE
