Dr. Martin Mansergh

We extend our deepest sympathies to the family and friends of Dr. Martin Mansergh on his passing.  A distinguished historian, statesman, and advocate for Irish heritage whose legacy will long be felt across the cultural institutions of Ireland.

Dr. Mansergh was a passionate supporter of the National Museum of Ireland and played a vital role in shaping public understanding of our shared past. As the Vice-Chair of the Expert Advisory Group on the Decade of Centenaries, he helped guide the Museum’s commemorative work over this period with sensitivity, scholarship, and a deep respect for historical complexity. His commitment to inclusive remembrance ensured that the Museum’s exhibitions and programming reflected the diverse narratives of Ireland’s journey through independence and conflict. He will be remembered by our staff for his kindness, humour, and encouragement.

Ar dheis Dé go raibh a anam.
