Our Museum sites in Dublin and Mayo are open to visitors for much of the festive season from 10am to 5pm, Tuesday to Saturday, and 1pm to 5pm on Sundays and Mondays with the exception of Christmas Eve (closed at 1pm), Christmas Day and St. Stephen's Day (26 December).
There is a wide range of workshops and activities to enjoy with us over the holidays. Some highlight events include a drop-in workshop exploring the Viking game of Hnefatafl on Wednesday, 4 January, at the NMI - Archaeology, Kildare Street, Dublin 2; a live performance with the renowned Armagh Rhymers on Sunday, 8 January, at the NMI - Decorative Arts & History, Collins Barracks, Dublin 7; and a free tour of Ireland's National Folklife Collection on Saturday, 31 January, at the NMI - Country Life in Co Mayo.
Public events this Christmas and New Year are free admission and no booking is required.
