Celebrate Tradfest 2024 with the National Museum of Ireland at Collins Barracks

The National Museum of Ireland at Collins Barracks, Dublin 7, is set to come alive for Tradfest 2024 with the historic Clarke Square hosting a series of concerts as part of this joyful celebration of Irish music and identity.

Collins Barracks is one of a number of key historic landmark sites across the city participating in Tradfest this January.

The Collins Barracks programme features Molly Donnery on Wednesday, 24 January,  Angelina Carberry on Thursday, 25 January; Tara Howley on Friday, 26 January; and Oisín Morrison on Saturday, 27 January. Find out more about concerts at Collins Barracks and bookings for Tradfest 2024.

To celebrate Tradfest at Collins Barracks, the National Museum of Ireland - Decorative Arts & History is holding a series of free tours and activities to highlight the remarkable history of music-making in Ireland and to showcase the exquisite musical instruments in the Museum's collections.

All events are free and no booking is required.




Music Makers Tours

Friday, 26th, Saturday 27 & Sunday 28 January at 1pm, 2pm, 3pm


Join our guides on a free public tour of the galleries and learn about the history of Irish music-making throughout the centuries. Booking not required, however spaces are limited. Spaces are offered on a first-come first-served basis.




The Armagh Rhymers Family Performance

Sunday, 28th January: 3pm - 4pm 


Enjoy a multi-sensory colourful and cultural Tradfest experience at the Museum with a very special performance by one of the most celebrated traditional music and theatre ensembles in Ireland. Through music, storytelling and drama, the Armagh Rhymers provide an unforgettable experience for all the family. Their colourful costumes evoke a sense of tradition and history which encapsulate the spirit of the ancient house visiting traditions of Ireland, where the kitchen floor became the stage. This event is free. Booking not required, however spaces are limited. Spaces are offered on a first-come first-served basis.




Music Trail

Throughout the Tradfest Festival 


Pick up a free Music Trail and explore the history of music through eight remarkable instruments on display in the Museum, from the emblematic Egan harp to uilleann pipes belonging to the renowned piper Leo Rowsome.
