Venue Accessibility

Find out about visiting options for mobility, visual and hearing impaired visitors to the National Museum of Ireland, Kildare Street.

Entrance

There is one entrance - from Kildare Street, next door to the Government Buildings. There are three stone steps and a wheelchair ramp to the main entrance level. This entrance is level with one set of glass double doors leading into the main reception area.

Step Free access to the Words on the Wave exhibition

While we work on making the Museum fully accessible, we’re really glad to have found a temporary solution with our neighbours at the Houses of the Oireachtas—so visitors with mobility needs can still enjoy the Words on the Wave exhibition with ease and dignity.

Lifts and access to galleries

All ground floor galleries are accessible. However, there is no lift servicing the first floor, however a temporary solution has been arranged for the Words on the Wave exhibition

Accessible toilet facilities

Accessible toilets are located on the ground floor, on the far side on the central rotunda.

Indoor seating/mobile stools

Seats and mobile stools are available upon request from the Information Desk.

Wheelchairs

Wheelchairs are available from the Reception Desk on request. Please call ahead to reserve one on +353 (0)1 6777444.

We regret that induction loops are not currently installed in the Museum.
