OUTing the Past -The International Festival of Lesbian Gay Bisexual & Trans History

In 2020, in partnership with the National Gallery of Ireland and Kilmainham Gaol Museum, the National Museum of Ireland - Decorative Arts & History collaborated on  OUTing the Past: The International Festival of LGBTI+ History OUTing the Past: The International Festivals of Lesbian Gay Bisexual & Trans History is an international celebration that comprises of events each year and around the world from New York to the UK to Ireland. In 2021, the Museum delivered a completely virtual festival for OUTing the Past Dublin 2021, delivering a weeklong program of events across a range of online engagement from Restream, to Zoom and much more.  

In 2022, galleries, museums, libraries and archives across Ireland joined forces to present OUTing the Past 2022: The International Festival of Lesbian Gay Bisexual & Trans History, delivering an exciting celebration of events, talks, webinars and workshops which will ran from 18 March 2022 to 10 April 2022.
 
The festival has grown from a small grassroots event in Belfast to an island-wide collaboration in 2022.
