12th Feb: Beady Pockets

Visit the Travellers' Journey exhibition to hear stories about 'beady pockets'. These highly decorated pouches were worn by women in the Travelling Community around the waist, like an apron to hold their most treasured possessions. Each told their own story. Afterwards join artist Stephanie Troy to make a representation of your own beady pocket to take home.

‘Bridie was very engaging, she explained the tradition really well. The art activity was wonderful, the children really enjoyed it. It was great for the children to be exposed to the Traveller Traditions.

It was interactive, the room was very well equipped , Stephanie + Tom were so welcoming and inspired the children. You have thought of everything.
