This watercolour of stone-walled outhouses was painted by Patricia Almond.  Shown are the buildings of a farmstead with wooden doors and corrugated iron roofs. Also shown is the water-butt or barrel to collect water from the outhouse roof. The red hen in the foreground brings a liveliness to the painting.

Ms. Almond later Clancy, graduated from University College Dublin in 1947 going to work for the Department of Health's hospitals architecture programme. She worked with Michael Scott on Dublin's Busaras building, and later with Ashlin and Coleman architects.
