Razor Wire
Contemporary Ireland Collection
Contemporary Ireland Collection
In 2023, an activist (and survivor of Mother and Baby and Industrial institutions) removed this razor wire from the walls of a mass grave at this former Magdalene Laundry.
In the 1990s, Mary Norris (1932- 2017), a survivor of the laundry, campaigned successfully to erect inscribed headstones for the women who had died there. Installed later, razor wire prevented access and the grave became overgrown. Survivors and advocates continue to campaign for dignified burials for people who died in Laundries and Mother and Baby Institutions.Location:
