In Conversation: Unearthing LGBTQIA+ Stories at the National Museum

Free, Pre-Booking Required

Join us for an insightful event exploring the development of the National Museum’s inaugural LGBTQIA+ tour at Collins Barracks. This conversation will delve into the creative process, research journey, and the collaborative effort that brought the tour to life.

Hear from Dr. El Reid Buckley, the historian and researcher commissioned to create the tour, and Dr. Mary McAuliffe, historian and advisor on this project, who will discuss uncovering and presenting LGBTQIA+ narratives within the Museum’s collections. This talk will reflect on the challenges faced, the considerations involved, and the significance of engaging with a wide range of organisations and individuals from across the LGBTQIA+ community. As part of the talk, attendees will visit some of the stops included on the tour to discuss the creative process and decision making around their inclusion.

Tickets are free, however places are limited and pre-booking is required via Eventbrite: In Conversation: Unearthing LGBTQIA+ Stories at the National Museum
