EVENT BOOKED OUT: In Conversation: Unearthing LGBTQIA+ Stories at the National Museum
Free, Pre-Booking Required
Join us for an insightful event exploring the development of the National Museum’s inaugural LGBTQIA+ tour at Collins Barracks. This conversation will delve into the creative process, research journey, and the collaborative effort that brought the tour to life.
Hear from Dr. El Reid Buckley, the researcher commissioned to create the tour, and Dr. Mary McAuliffe, historian and advisor on this project, who will discuss uncovering and presenting LGBTQIA+ narratives within the Museum’s collections. This talk will reflect on the challenges faced, the considerations involved, and the significance of engaging with a wide range of organisations and individuals from across the LGBTQIA+ community.
As part of this event, there will be a special LGBTQIA+ tour at 5pm, leaving from reception at Collins Barracks. Spaces on this tour are limited, so please email dibolger@museum.ie to confirm your space.
