Self-Guided Visit: Resources

Activity sheets are a great way to learn, explore and enjoy the objects and themes of the collections. Describe your favourite animal and become a wild life champion with a curriculum-linked activity sheet. Booking is essential.

Learning outcomes

On completion of a self-guided visit with activity sheet pupils should be able to -

  • Describe and sketch their favourite animal in the Museum.

  • Complete a short trail with activities.

  • Describe a range of different animals and fossils found in Ireland.

Before your visit to the Dead Zoo Lab

Prepare the class for the visit. Give pupils an idea of what to expect to see or have a discussion about the Museum in advance of the visit.

Many of the animals on display in the Dead Zoo Lab are examples of taxidermy. If you would like to introduce the topic of taxidermy to your class we have short videos that explain what taxidermy is and how it is made. We recommend choosing the video that matches the age range of your class and also watching it in advance so you are ready for any questions your students might have!
