Online Activity: Dead as a Dodo

Free

Title Frame of Dodo Video

You've probably heard the phrase "as dead as a dodo" before, but what does it mean? And what is a dodo? And more importantly, why is it dead?

This August, for the first time since 2007, the National Museum of Ireland's dodo skeleton is back on display in the Dead Zoo Lab in the National Museum of Ireland. Before you visit us in Collins Barracks, why not discover our dodo video and help it find its feathers in our dodo colouring sheet?

How the Dodo went Extinct

Humans, boats, rats and an island off the coast of Africa - what could go wrong! Watch our short video and learn exactly how the dodo went extinct.

Bring the Dodo back to Life!

Bring the dodo back to life with our colouring sheet. Scientists think that the paintings and drawings of dodos that we have may not be correct - so your dodo can be any colour you like!
