From a marvellous minerals at the Dead Zoo Lab to Spring Spotting in Turloug Park, there’s something for everyone to enjoy across our three museum sites in Dublin and Mayo. And the best part? It’s all free!

Celebrate the Spring Midterm at Collins Barracks with a fun, free, family‑friendly programme of activities that bring history, nature, and creativity to life! Discover marvellous minerals and fascinating animal signs in the Discovery Zone at the Dead Zoo Lab, play detective during the engaging family tour Who’s Fooling Who?, or test your knowledge in the Hands‑on History: Fact or Fiction session. With no booking required and activities suitable for all ages, Collins Barracks is the perfect midterm destination for the whole family to enjoy!

Bring the whole family to Kildare Street this Spring Midterm for an exciting journey through Ireland’s ancient past, featuring engaging drop‑in workshops and family‑friendly tours that spark curiosity in visitors of all ages. On Thursday, 19 February from 12:00 to 14:00, families can drop-in and discover how people liven in Ireland thousands of years ago in the Stone Age Handling Workshop. On Friday, 20 February from 10:30 to 12:30, learn to think like an archaeologist in the Bronze Age Artefact Detective Workshop, where you can handle and examine replica artefacts and uncover what they were used for. A varied programme of free guided tours is also available, including The Vikings in Ireland, Prehistoric Ireland, and Museum Highlights tours. All tours and activities are free, and no booking is required.

Celebrate the Spring Midterm at Turlough Park from 14–22 February with a line‑up of nature‑themed activities for the whole family to enjoy across the museum’s beautiful woodlands, gardens, lake, and river areas. Highlights include the Spring Spotting: Family Walk and Craft on 19 February, where a museum educator leads families on a guided walk to spot early signs of spring. You can also explore the Woodland Explorer Nature Trail, a self‑guided adventure through Turlough Park’s diverse habitats. Discover plants, trees, birds, and animals—big and small—and learn which species are native and which are not. Be sure to include a visit to Beir Bua, our brown bear, which is on temporary display as part of the ongoing exhibition The Murmur of Bees.
