Arming and Training the IRA

After the 1916 Rising many Irish Volunteers were interned in Frongoch in Wales or imprisoned in various prisons across England. These ‘universities of revolution’ gave men the opportunity to train together and learn military tactics. When the War of Independence began, the Volunteers used their knowledge to train as the IRA, and re-armed themselves however they could.
