Maker unknown

F:2000.107

Provenance: unknown. Maker: unknown

This armchair is made of Scots pine and is the only chair to have residue of red lead paint. While the back rest of this chair is straight, the front legs are very clearly splayed forward. This construction supports the weight of the sitter to the front of the seat. This chair shows signs of age and wear.  Bernard D. Cotton wrote about this chair in 'Irish Vernacular Furniture' in Regional Furniture, 1989

The maker and donor of this chair are unknown
