Teddy bear by Erris Bears, a Gaeltarra Eireann brand.
A large teddy bear with golden mohair fur, black and amber glass eyes and black stitched mouth and nose. A label on the bear's right foot reads, “Republic of Ireland”.Established in 1928, Gaeltarra Éireann aimed to create industries in rural and Irish-speaking areas to increase employment, reduce emigration and preserve the Irish language. In 1938 the Elly Bay Company was founded in Mayo and made teddy bears under the label ‘Erris Bear’s’ from 1938 to 1953.
