Sheela na Gig, Carn, Co. Westmeath

Found in the walls of the ruins of Carn Castle, Co. Westmeath.

This was a 16th Century tower house of the O'Melaghlin family, whose ancestors were kings of Meath.  It was presumably taken from there to enhance the collection of Mr. Henry Upton, in whose house it remained until after his death.
