Tin bucket

Michael Mongan made this bucket for the Museum in 1962, when he was about 60-years-old.

He lived and travelled about the Gort-Headford-Tuam district.

The bucket is made of tinplate except for the hoop around the bottom, which is of iron, and painted black. It is 25 cm in diameter and 26.5 cm high.

It has a hoop handle, inserted in two lugs, each of which is held by three rivets. The handle is of stout wire about 5 mm in diameter and the central portion is wrapped with a strip of brass-coloured metal. The upper part of the lid is conical and is provided with a strap handle.
