All treats, no tricks in this drop-in family mask-making workshop. Taking inspiration from the curious objects in our galleries, design and build unique faces or characters using a variety of techniques and materials. Then, wear your creation for Halloween!

✂️ Workshop Description

Join visual artist Carrie Lynam for a vibrant exploration of colour and texture at this drop-in mask-making workshop at the National Museum of Ireland at Collins Barracks.

Draw inspiration from the spooky objects highlighted in our new self-guided Halloween trail for families and unleash your creativity to design and construct unique faces or characters.

Using a wide range of techniques and materials, this hands-on workshop encourages a playful approach to art, inviting you to experiment and discover the joy of artistic creation in these historic halls.

Most suitable for ages 7-12. All children must be fully supervised by a parent or guardian while on the premises.

No booking is required, places will be allocated on a first come, first served basis. Masks will take on average 25 minutes to make.

  • Bookings: Drop-in, no booking required

  • Accessibility: The Learning Resource Room is located on the ground floor, off Clarke Square. Accessible toilets can be found in Museum Reception.


👩‍🎨 Meet the Facilitator

Carrie Lynam

Carrie Lynam is a visual artist and experienced arts educator. Her work has been exhibited nationally and internationally and is held in collections at The National Museum of Scotland and Kilkenny County Council.
