HERITAGE WEEK: 135th Museum Anniversary Tour with the Royal Irish Academy
Free Admission. Booking Required.
To mark the 135th anniversary of the opening of the Museum on Kildare Street, join this special tour, with the Royal Irish Academy, and discover the history of both institutions.
The Museum opened to the public on the 29th of August 1890, following the Museum and Science Act of 1877. On opening, the archaeological collection from the Royal Irish Academy was moved to the Museum, becoming a cornerstone for the Irish Antiquities Division. On this tour, visit both institutions to discover more about their history and roles in the preservation of artefacts and manuscripts from Irish history.
Please Note: This tour will last approximately two hours, with a visit and a tour at the National Museum of Ireland – Kildare Street, and the Royal Irish Academy on Dawson Street. Two tours will be taking place at the same time, with a swap over and a break halfway through. On confirmation of your booking, you will be informed as to which location is your start point.
Booking Required: If you would like a space on this tour, please fill out the following application form. Completion of this form does not guarantee a place, but we will confirm your place by email when competed.
