For Open House 2022, join the National Museum of Ireland to explore and celebrate great design, architecture and the people who contribute to the creation of our buildings and cities.
Take an architectural tour of Collins Barracks; discover how the Vikings lived and how their homes were made; or learn how design of our public spaces impact how we interact with each other.
Open House is part of the Open House Worldwide international network of 50 organisations hosting festivals and conversations about architecture, design and cities across the globe from Lagos to Taipei, and New York to Santiago. This year, there is a special junior programme for young people and families.
Open House 2022 takes place across Dublin from 14-16 October.

Collins Barracks was an army base for almost 300 years before being renovated for use as a museum. The network of tall, granite-faced buildings occupy an 18 acre site and retain an imposing, military air. The site boasts a rich and varied history. Completed in 1704, it played an important role suppressing uprisings over the centuries. Wolfe Tone, the founder and leading member of the United Irishman, was court martialled and imprisoned here after the 1798 Rebellion. During the 1916 Easter Rising, troops based here tackled rebel positions on Usher’s Island, at the Four Courts, and in the GPO.
